Review: Memebox #56 Yogurt Cosmetics

I was so excited to come home to this box Friday night. It shipped weeks ago with my Earth & Sea restock and unfortunately the boxes were destroyed in customs, according to the email I got from Memebox. The Earth & Sea was sadly out of stock in their warehouse, so I was refunded for that box. They sent out a replacement Yogurt box Thursday, which was the day I got their email, and I got it the next day. So despite my disappointment over Earth & Sea, Memebox handled the situation very well.

For anyone new to Memebox, they are a Korean company that releases themed beauty boxes. Unlike most subscription boxes, it is not a monthly service. Rather, you choose to buy whichever boxes appeal to you. Click here to see some of the current boxes. (This is an affiliate link).

I hadn’t looked at any spoilers for this box except for the ones Memebox released, which was actually before I even purchased the box. I love ingredient themes like this so I was eagerly anticipating this box.

Holika Holika I Want Chu Lip Balm duo in Strawberry Smoothie, retail value of $11.

This was one of the spoilers released and I always appreciate lip balms, so I was happy to have these. The idea is that you apply one balm and your partner applies the other, so that when you kiss the balms together create a strawberry smoothie flavor. I briefly considered giving one of these to my husband for fun but I didn’t think he would appreciate the nicety of the product and would just think it was weird and/or dumb. Instead I kept both for myself!

Ettang Modeling Take Out Cup Pack in Yogurt, retail value of $3.

This was the other product Memebox released prior to the ship date for this box. It is a powder that you mix with water to create a mask. After you apply, the mask will turn rubbery. You then peel it off to reveal soothed, firm moisturized skin.

The learning curve for this is a little more steep than I expected and my first application did not go as hoped. It was hard to tell how much water to add and I couldn’t tell if the mask was firming up as it was supposed to. Instead of peeling off in a sheet, it peeled off in little chunks. Next time I will use less water, stir better and apply thicker. You only need about 1/3 of the cup per use.

Rappol Calming Cream, retail value of $59.

This is a face cream that strengthens the skins immunity while soothing sensitive skin. It is a huge bottle and I assumed it was a body lotion, but the info card clearly mentions the face so I’ll trust that. It feels like a lightweight cream, so I think it would benefit oilier skin. I am not sure I will keep it for myself because it is so large, I can’t see myself making it through even half the bottle.

Purederm Skin Softening Yogurt Mask in Strawberry, retail value $12.

This is a cream mask hydrates skin and removes dead cells. I really don’t need more masks at this point but I like that this is hydrating and I don’t have any cream masks at this point, so I think I will get a lot of use from it now that it is getting colder outside. I haven’t had a chance to use it yet.

Happy Bath Facial Yogurt Cleansing Foam, retail value $6.

There were four variations of this sent out. I think I got the gentle type with grain powders. Initially I was going to put this in my gift pile because I have tons of cleansers but I actually don’t have a foam cleanser so I want to give it a try. I am going to wait until I finish at least one of my current cleansers though!

Pure Smile Yogurt Mask in Mixed Fruits, retail value $5 for two.

This sheet mask combines yogurt with kiwi, banana and pineapple so I imagine it is very brightening to the skin. I am usually ambivalent about sheet masks but I am excited for this one and I love the packaging.

Overall, this box has a retail value of $96. The price of the box was $23 plus shipping but I used a $5 code and meme points so I got it for much cheaper. It isn’t the best value I have seen from Memebox plus I would have preferred that it not include so much skincare. Three masks is a lot when you’re not purchasing a mask themed box, then throw in a cleanser and a moisturizer and it’s almost skincare overload. I hate to make it sound as though I didn’t like this box though. Overall I thought it was pretty good.
