Memebox Review: My Cute Wishlist 4

20141203-111834-40714658.jpg

To date, Memebox has done four versions of My Cute Wishlist. The first one was a huge hit and although I was a fan of MCW2 (the only other one I ordered), each subsequent box has been less and less popular.

Memebox is a Korean company that curates beauty boxes full of Korean beauty care. Recently they have stopped offering multiple boxes and are instead focusing on their Memeshop, which sells their cosmetics brand as well as other Korean brands. It’s a real shame in my opinion, as their boxes are a great value and I love the mystery aspect of them. I doubt I will be ordering from the Memeshop much.

Check out their site here.

20141203-112838-41318196.jpg

At first glance, this box definitely seemed like it fit the cute theme. It was pretty much exactly what I would expect from this type of box.

20141203-113034-41434805.jpg

Étude House Sweet Recipe Candy Stick in Oh! Orange Candy, Meme value $5.

I love getting lip products like this in my Memeboxes. They are great to keep at work and in my bag. I was concerned that this would be too orange but it goes on sheer enough that is is wearable. It smells like candy too!

20141203-113338-41618949.jpg

Tonymoly Apple Red Tox Honey Cream, Meme value $12.

The last thing I need is a face cream. Seriously. But I really wanted to try this one so I am glad it was included. I actually almost bought the infamous Cutie Pie Marzia 2 box just for this so I am glad I held out. It is definitely very cute and I think it will be a great day cream as it sinks in quickly.

20141203-113827-41907883.jpg

ddung Liquid Eyeliner, Meme value $12.

This is a water proof, smudge proof liquid eyeliner. I usually prefer brown eyeliner because it’s not as harsh looking, but this works and it has cute packaging. I appreciate it when Memebox doesn’t focus too heavily on skincare or makeup in their boxes, unless that is the actual theme, so I appreciate that this box had a wide range.

20141203-114155-42115995.jpg

Tonymoly Egg Pore Nose Pack 7ea, Meme Value $4.

These have charcoal and egg to shrink pores and remove whiteheads and blackheads. They smell very strange, like burning rubber or something. I did feel like my nose felt smoother and looked cleaner after I used this.

20141203-114352-42232945.jpg

Yadah Vita-Whitening Aqua Gel and Puregreen Moisturizing cream, $24.

These better be amazing if the “travel size” costs $24. They are great for travel but they look like deluxe samples, not the full size that Memebox claims.

20141203-114548-42348270.jpg

Pure Smile Choosy Lip Pack in Milk, Meme Value $1.

This has milk protein extracts to moisturize. The other lipnmask like this that I got from Memebox was a total dud, so I hope this is a better brand because my lips need some moisture!

20141203-114753-42473287.jpg

Pure Smile Snail hand Cream Milk, $5.

I have a lot of products from this snail line, so I was excited for the hand cream. It has a really watery texture and sinks in immediately. I have used it twice now and five minutes after applying, my hands felt dry. This unfortunately just isn’t strong enough at all.

20141203-115027-42627877.jpg

Holika Holika Pig-nose Black Head Steam Starter, Meme value $6.

I have always thought this product line was adorable, so I think this is a great inclusion in this box. It is meant to “melt away” blackheads when you massage it into the skin. It also has aloe Vera to soothe. I haven’t had a chance to try this yet.

Overall, the Meme value of this box is $69. It is likely the lowest valued Memebox I have ever received. I like the contents, so I am not bothered by the low value but I am guessing others will take issue with it. If you take out the two travel size moisturizers, you are left with a $45 value!

Memebox #62 Just Gellin’ Review

20141103-115248-42768197.jpg

Just Gellin’ is one of those boxes that I ordered on a complete whim. It sounded interesting and I had hoped that it would be a good mix of makeup and skincare. Other than that, I didn’t know what to expect. According to Memebox, Korean skincare is cutting edge and innovative, and gel cosmetics is right up there as the “next big Korean trend”. I don’t see gel as being that innovative or new, but either way I wanted this box!

For anyone new to Memebox, they curate specialized boxes based on a theme. Their boxes are typically an amazing value and a great way to try Korean beauty care products. To see some of their currently available boxes, click here. (This is an affiliate link).

20141103-120253-43373214.jpg

20141103-120313-43393477.jpg

At first glance, I was very pleased with my Just Gellin’ box. as I had hoped, it included both skincare and makeup. I really needed a gel eyeliner so I was excited to see one included!

On to the contents.

20141103-121154-43914684.jpg

Dermahouse Ginseng Peeling Gel, Meme value $18.

I actually have never used a Korean peeling gel, so I will be trying this ASAP. I have heard good things in general, but no nothing of this brand in particular. I have used a few peeling gels before that I have gotten as samples in my Birchbox and they were just ok, so I’m not sure if I should have high expectations for this or if it will be similar to what I have already tried.

20141103-121443-44083369.jpg

Holika Holika Holy Berry Jelly Tint, Meme value $7.

This has two variations. I got the Cherry Berry. It smells strongly of synthetic cherries. The applicator is a really cool spatula wand and I like the jelly texture of this. I have noticed Memebox is all about cute lip gloss so I wasn’t surprised that they includes one in this box. I put it in my bag to take to work.

20141103-121649-44209232.jpg

Secret Key Sheer Light Essential Gel Sunscreen, Meme value $23.

I was least thrilled to see sun screen in this box. That is just so boring to me. I have three kids though, so I will use it eventually. Not for awhile though, so this is just hanging out in my closet.

20141103-121926-44366399.jpg

ProYou Prori Vita Bright Moisture Gel Mist, Meme value $24.

I got this in the lavender scent in another box. I really like it and use it almost every morning before applying my moisturizer. It is more moisturizing than the toner I was using so I prefer it now that we are getting in to the colder months and my skin is drier. I won’t be able to go through two of these in a reasonable amount of time so I will be gifting this one.

20141103-122159-44519848.jpg

original raw Blue Jam Water Block Cream, Meme value $24.

This is apparently a favorite among Korean actresses for its rich moisture that lasts up to 100 hours. I don’t know about all that, but it is a nice, hydrating gel that works really well for me in the morning under my makeup. I like that it sinks in without feeling tacky. I really don’t care for the packaging though. It can be kind of difficult to squeeze the product out, so although it is more sanitary than a jar, I don’t prefer it.

20141103-122724-44844245.jpg

Hope Girl Waterproof Gel Eyeliner, Meme value $22.

I have heard others complaining about how often Hope Girl products are included in Memeboxes, but this was actually my first one! I have only used this once so far but it was incredibly easy to apply. I loved the color, because typically I will choose a brown eyeliner over a black one. It was easy to wash off before bed too, so that was a nice plus.

I am so pleased with this box and glad that I went with my gut instinct to order it. It has an overall value of $118 and it sold for $23. I probably paid less than $20 with meme points and discount codes, so overall a great deal!

Review: Memebox #39 Cafe

20141028-104940-38980238.jpg

I know, I know. I clearly have a problem. I feel like all I review at this point are MemeBoxes but they are that good. The value is amazing and I love the fact that it is usually full size products. I have come to love Korean skincare since I discovered Memebox.

Memebox is a Korean company that sells boxes curated based on a theme. Their new boxes are typically released on Monday, Wednesday and Friday each week and for the price you cannot find a better value anywhere else! 20141028-105646-39406063.jpg

20141028-105658-39418296.jpg

Sorry my pictures are so crappy! Anyway, I love themes like this. Chocolate, cafe . . . scent based boxes like that will always sucker me in. I loved that this box wasn’t just coffee scented products, but just scents you would find in a coffee shop or cafe. So many possibilities!

20141028-105911-39551027.jpg

Cleomee Anti Wrinkle Donkey Lotion, retail value $83.

This is obviously the big ticket item in the box. It is a rich lotion containing donkey’s milk which, according to the info card, “far exceeds cow’s milk and even goat’s milk in its similarity to mother’s breast milk, and is also highly prized to have been the secret to Cleopatra’s unfailing beauty and skincare”. Interesting. I do believe in the healing properties of breast milk, so this definitely caught my eye. I am a horrible lotion user though. I just never remember to apply it. So I’m unsure I would actually use this. I also think it is interesting that this can be used both as a face and a body lotion.

20141028-110354-39834867.jpg

Binu Cook Ice Cream Scoop Cacao Body Soap, retail value $3.

This does look like an ice cream scoop if you know what you’re looking for. Otherwise it kind of looks like poop. It smells great though. I don’t use bar soap though so this will be gifted.

20141028-110549-39949648.jpg

Pure Smile Mask Sheet, retail value $1.

There were two variations of this sent out. I got the the green tea version. As far as sheet masks go, I really liked it. It felt like a great quality and the essence it left behind felt great. I did it before bed and rubbed the essence in afterward. My skin felt nice and soft the next morning.

20141028-110830-40110011.jpg

Tonymoly Latte Art Cappucino Cream-In-Scrub, retail value $13.

I had really hoped to have this in the box so I was excited when I saw it. This is a face scrub with milk protein, caffeine and coffee extracts that cleanses and firms the skin. It feels very hydrating and soothing and actually not very scrubby at all. My only complaint is the smell. It is so strongly of coffee, like I am sticking my nose in a bag of coffee beans. Just a little too strong for me.

20141028-111214-40334082.jpg

Holika Holika Dessert Lip Balm, retail value $6.

There were three variations of this sent out. I got Peach Cupcake, which smells exactly like you would expect. It’s nothing too exciting but it gives a nice pink color and leaves lips moisturized too.

20141028-111436-40476954.jpg

Vella Fresh Creamy Soap, retail value $13.

I love cleansers like this. The packaging is adorable and the scent is sweet, like vanilla. I wish it were stronger though! I keep smelling it and it is so faint. I need to get through some of my other cleansers before I try this. It says it can be used with a bubble net. I have no idea what that is.

Overall, I absolutely loved this box. Even though there were a few products I won’t use, I think Memebox did a great job following the theme of the box and I liked that they included a wide range of products.

Did you get cafe box? What are your thoughts?
